The Power Of Modern Web Design

Is your website generating sales?

Many businesses have a website these days. Things have changed a massive amount in the last 20 years for business. It is now more important than ever to have a stylish and functional website. Companies who neglect this part of their business will inevitably lose hundreds of customers over the year. Today we are talking all about websites and how they generate leads and sales.
The importance of modern design
When anyone comes to your website, they will start to subconsciously judge and analyse your website. If your website doesn’t have a stylish appearance, customers will leave instantly. This is called bouncing, when a visitor comes to your site and leaves within a few minutes, you are loosing a customer.
Your site needs to deliver a clean and elegant appearance in order to get a good first impression. Any site that isn’t using the latest HTML/CSS design trends will be considered a poor business. It’s the unfortunate truth, most customers will often check a company’s website and social media pages before deciding on a purchase, if they don’t like what they see, you lose a sale.
Ease of use
The second aspect of modern websites is the ease of use. Your site needs to be extremely simple to understand and visitors should be able to navigate with ease. Keep the amount of pages under 8 is a good rule of thumb, all pages should be visible on your navigation bar. You also need to make it super simple for the viewer to get in contact with your business. Ideally you should have a contact box on every page of your site, this will allow your viewers to get in touch easily.
If you run an eCommerce store things are slightly different, you have many more things to consider. We will be writing up a full eCommerce tip article soon, but i will give you the basics.
Your customers need to easily move about your website and add their purchases to a basket. Your shopping basket is the final deciding factor for any purchase, it has to be easy and simple to understand and very easy for the customer to complete the sale. A good rule of thumb for your web store is to summarise it in 5 words or less. Take those 5 words and put them on the home screen, this tells people exactly what they are looking at.
Calls to action
Calls to action are what drive sales in any marketing medium. This still goes for websites. You really need a call to action on every page, don’t just spam a big buy now button though, you must be more subtle in order to win sales.
Not every call to action needs to be sales driven, consider using calls to action to get people to share your blog posts or like your facebook page. There are a myriad of different ways to get people to take action and i highly recommend learning a little bit about copywriting in order to increase your website’s conversion rates.

Things to consider
Here is a list of things you should consider when building a company website!
What is your company image? Do all of your social media pages reflect the same brand?
Does your business have a message to share?
Keep your content relevant, engaging and sharable.
Mobile responsive design is absolutely crucial.
Essential information must be displayed simply on your website.
Keep it simple. Your website shouldn’t be a maze of clicks and images.
Make your payment system easy and simple.
Watch your analytics to better understand your visitors and measure performance.
